KOHLER K-692-VS Clairette Kitchen Sink Faucet, Vibrant Stainless
Average Ratings 4.5 out of 5
Faucet is nice – a bit larger than I expected. I had considered only the height, but not how far the water stream would protrude into the sink. But this unconsidered depth isn’t really a problem – I mention it only so you might consider a factor I overlooked.
The installation instructions are a bit weak. On the 4th step, they tell you to “Remove excess plumbers putty,” but they don’t ever tell you to install the “escutcheon” cover, tho the picture depicts so doing. No big deal, but a bit confusing.
Where installation becomes a problem is somewhere between Steps 7 and 9. They never even MENTION how/where/when to tighten the fixture! So I’ll clue you in… When you “Partially thread screws into the ring” – the ring that’s really more of a flange than a ring and is made of solid brass – make the screws protrude by maybe 1/8 an inch, and when you’re threading the ring (flange) onto the faucet, don’t tighten it all the way (leaving the “approximately 1/4″ (6 mm) between the ring and the sink” as mentioned in the instructions – you’ll eventually need to tighten those screws to secure the faucet to the sink.
At some point, you’ll want to use a large headed (#1?) Phillips head screw driver to tighten the screws against the sink. This apparently is what solidifies your installation, making the faucet rigid and solidly affixed to the sink. They never tell you to tighten these two screws. If you follow Kohler’s instructions to the “tee”, your faucet will be wobbly and not secured to the sink.
As far as the faucet itself, it’s very nice. The “button” to switch between spray and normal flow is a little hard to get used to, since it’s behind a rubber water seal. But the button is a minor issue. My only real complaint is that the water flow is less than I would ideally like. It’s not significantly different from my old faucet, which was a “standard” style single-handle model. I wish the hoses were 1/2 inch instead of 3/8 so I would get more flow.

The pictures of the Kohler Faucet were enough to attract me to it but when I opened the box upon its arrival I was smitten. I ordered the Vibrant Stainless so it would coordinate with my stainless stove and dishwasher. The Faucet is sleek, beautiful, and works like a charm. It was simple to install. My husband mounted it directly to the sink since we have a split sink. We love the pull down feature. This item was totally worth the investment.

This is the third faucet we bought when we did our kitchen remodel! We tried being thrifty the first time, went too big the second and finally got it right on the third try. We wanted a pull out faucet, but it had to be high enough to easily rinse out large and tall items without pulling it out every time. This one does it all. Pricey? Not for what you are getting. The quality is high. I know it will last for years and years. The look? I fell in love with it at first sight. We did an Art Nouveau kitchen and this faucet with its floral-like lines fits right in. I know if they had the technology to build one like this in the early 1900′s they would have done it just like this!
