You do not want mildew to occur. Do not be in a hurry or become overwhelmed. Take a break if needed. You can do it and let me know if you have any more questions. I do all the faux painting and etc.

I agree with the girl above me. Main thing buy bathroom paint. You do not want mildew to occur. I painted my entire house last year and learned a lot in the process. The most time consuming part will be the prep work, the painting itself will be a snap. Start w/ some painters tape. If you're not doing the ceiling, put the tape on the ceiling so that you don't accidentally get paint up there. Same thing goes for around the shower, mirror, etc. If you are painting w/ a dark color or painting over a dark color, start w/ a primer. If not, you can usually go straight for painting. Use a good quality latex, semi-gloss paint (it's much easier to clean if you drip it). You can buy things at the paint store to put down to protect the area you don't want to drip paint on but old shower curtains and sheets work just as well. Get a tool at the paint store or use a brush and start at the top & work your way down. Once you use the brush on the edges at the top & sides, you can use the roller brush.
The employees at the paint or home improvement store are usually VERY helpful in helping you pick out a paint and color. For your 1st project, I would start w/ a light color paint. Dark paint is harder to work with and can be tricky. (I painted my kitchen "radish", it was the 1st time I'd painted w/ a shade of red and it was not easy to work with!... It does look great though... after many attemps & headaches of "fixing" it.)Try this link: http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-608.htmlHave fun!

Hi. The most important thing is to take your time!! you will want to finish it because the end result is exciting, but take your time so you have nice straight lines. I would cover and or remove fixtures...mirror, lights, plate covers. Keep a damp cloth handy for any mess to be wiped up immediately. Invest in a good angled brush.

Let the paint store know that it is a bathroom and they will help you pick the best paint for that room.
