Holidays To Turkey – Refreshing Beverages That You Should Try

Turkey is an exotic land on the Mediterranean with most of the area in the Anatolian region of West Asia. Blessed with a mild climate, wonderful sights, magnificent architecture, pulsating nightlife, and friendly citizens, Turkey is one of leading destinations of travelers.

But the attractions, climate, night entertainment, and people are just some of the things that make Turkey an ideal land to visit. When enjoying holidays to Turkey, you must try out locally blended beverages. In fact, consuming their beverages is part of experiencing Turkey’s culinary culture.

1. Ayran
This is a popular drink made of water and yogurt and served without sugar. At times, a pinch of salt is added. The blend is very pleasant and refreshing especially if drunk during hot weather.

2. Kahve
Kahve, or Turkish coffee, is served in small cups. The drink is tasty but extremely strong. Normally, kahve is served black. Nevertheless, if it is too strong for you, you can pout some milk or sugar in it.

3. Cay
Cay is classic Turkish tea, the hot beverage of choice of many Turks; in fact, Turks are heavy tea drinkers. Check out their special elma cay (apple tea) or ada cay (sage tea). Note that if your tea is blended by locals, your beverage might be stronger than your normal taste. Dilute it a little with hot water or milk.

4. Boza
Another tasty drink to be taken during summer, boza is a cold, thick beverage that originally came from Central Asia. The drink is made from fermented bulgur wheat in which sugar and water are added. You can purchase commercially made boza, packaged in plastic bottles, in supermarkets. But they are sweeter and less dense than the classical sour and thick boza.

5. Sahlep
Perfect for cold, winter evenings, sahlep is a classic hot drink in which milk, sugar, and orchid root are blended. Typically, the drink is garnished with cinnamon. It goes well with sweet pastries.

6. Red poppy syrup
This well-known drink is mixed with water, sugar, and red poppy petals. It is very pleasant and is favored by children.
